It looks as if it is admiring it's reflection in the glass. Maybe it is waiting for the 'other' swan to come out?

It's probably being territorial. You'll often find bluetits/sparrows/robins will peck at double glazing because they can see their reflections in it.

How so? It is absolutely genuine. The first photograph was taken when I arrived at the office. The second was the sight that faced me when I went for lunch. Everyone used a door at the other end of the building.

is it aggressive? They're beautiful birds but not to friendly. did someone feed it or how come it found your office building? all questions...

Not too aggressive. Though I have to admit that no-one was getting too close.

The office is near a harbour and its partner was nesting on a boat ramp nearby. I guess it thought that it was protecting its family by preventing people from leaving by the entrance, or using the car park... though in fact the people in the office were feeding it and its cygnets and had no malign intent at all.

They're all gone now as far as I know. I was just visiting for the day.

My college campus adjoined on a golf course which is (or at least was, from 1988 to 1992) possessed by a particularly vicious swan. One does not want to encounter a territorial swan unexpectedly or when one is not prepared to run hard. Especially if one happens to be stark naked.

The dress code for golf has obviously changed from when I last played. Mind you, stark naked is definitely an improvement over all those gaudy plaid trousers, nasty looking knitwear and pimp-style tasselled lace-ups!

Care to share the story?!

Have once been chased by a cow across a field. Not something to boast about, at least if it had been a bull I could have claimed to have not looked quite so ridiculous.

Nothing to do with me I'm afraid. I've tried uploading the picture again but my host (Imageshack) seems to be malfunctioning. I'll try again tomorrow morning. Some pictures in my collection seem to have disappeared so I guess that it's a problem at their end. Of course if I leave it alone the picture might suddenly turn up again! Who knows?

Apologies to your mum from me by the way... it was "circumstances beyond my control" etc!

They were rather fond of it: fed it and the cygnets it was guarding.
